JuntoVenture’s Think Green Live Green Challenge

The Think Green Live Green Challenge is an interactive competition that aims to build a community of dialogue about the challenges of eco-friendly living.

About the challenge

Sierra Designs, Jetboil, Mission Playgrounds, Timberland, Pacific Outdoor Equipment, Burt’s Bees, and other companies are teaming up with JuntoVenture to help build an eco-community.

JuntoVenture is hoping to build a community of dialogue about “going green.” This contest will build an information source that will help contestants and viewers alike to make better environmental choices, give feedback to businesses about what changes their customers would like to see, and discuss the hardships of “going green” in society today.

Here’s your chance to help us cultivate our vision of a sustainable future! You may already be an expert in some green technology, live in an eco-friendly way, or just be a little unclear about information about living sustainably. No matter what, we encourage everyone to submit videos to help educate themselves and others about sustainable living and the environment.

Entry into this Challenge constitutes your acceptance of these Official Rules. 


CHALLENGE ENTRY DATES: Challenge begins February, 26, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends April 22, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. PT (“Challenge Entry Period”). Entries will be accepted during the Challenge Entry Period.

WHO MAY ENTER: You must be 13 or older to enter. If you are under 13, you can still enter, but to win you will need to verify that you had the permission of a parent or guardian (we will have a permission slip for you). Your parent could also join you as a collaborator on your video. International entries are encouraged! Employees (and their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside or those living in the same households, whether or not related) of JuntoVenture (“Challenge Administrator”), are not eligible to win.

CHALLENGE ENTRY/OBJECTIVE: The object of the Challenge is for you, the challenger, to upload a 2 minute (or less) video creating dialog based on the following questions: 1.) Are you an expert in something? Please share your knowledge! 2.) Do you know of a green technology or a “better” way of doing something? 3.) Do you have a great question about choices we face that you would like to know more about? Challengers are encouraged to be creative not only in their “great idea” but also in how s/he shares the concept with JuntoVenture.

HOW TO ENTER: During the Challenge Entry Period, visit www.juntoventure.org (“Website”), follow the instructions provided to complete the registration process and upload your video (“Entry”) to youtube. Click here for instructions on uploading.

  • Video must have a maximum running time of two minutes in length (including any credits); only the first two (2) minutes of the video will be considered for judging purposes.
  • Videos must be submitted in English.
  • Acceptable video submission formats must be in accordance with Youtube policies. You may enter as many different video responses as you like, however they will be judged on individual merit and you may only win one prize per challenge. A video response may be entered in multiple challenges if it meets the relevant criteria.
  • Incomplete Entries, including but not limited to those Entries that do not address the requirements listed in the Challenge Entry/Objective section, will not be eligible for the judging.

    For purposes of these Official Rules, “receipt” of an Entry occurs when JuntoVenture’s servers record the Entry information resulting from challenger clicking the “Submit Entry” button on Youtube. Any automated computer receipt (such as one confirming delivery of email) does not constitute proof of actual receipt by JuntoVenture for purposes of these Official Rules. 


    
By submitting an Entry, challenger hereby grants to JuntoVenture permission for his/her Entry to be posted on Youtube.com for viewing by visitors to the web site and otherwise used in accordance with these Official Rules. In addition to a challenger’s video, JuntoVenture reserves the right to post sample videos on www.Youtube.com it has created in connection with the Challenge that will enable a challenger to get an idea as to the nature of submissions JuntoVenture is seeking. These samples videos will not be included in the judging and will not be eligible to receive prizes. Challenge Parties are not responsible for any unauthorized third party use of any Entry. Challenge Parties do not guarantee the posting of any Entry.


    Entry must be the original work of the challenger, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.

    If the Entry contains any material or elements that are not owned by the challenger and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the challenger is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the Entry, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the Entry by JuntoVenture in the manner set forth in these Official Rules, including, without limitation, name and likeness permissions from any person who appears in or is identifiable in the Entry.

    If any identifiable person appearing in the Entry is under the age of majority in his/her state/province of residence, the parent or legal guardian is required to provide written authorization for the minor to appear in the Entry.
    JuntoVenture reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to JuntoVenture from any challenger at any time. By submitting an Entry, challenger warrants and represents that he/she and any persons appearing or who are identifiable in the Entry consents to the submission and use of the Entry in the Challenge, and to its posting on www.Youtube.com. 


    
Entries must comply with the following content guidelines to be eligible:

  • Content cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, profane or pornographic, or contain nudity;
  • Content cannot promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any particular political agenda or message;
  • Content cannot be obscene or offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group;
  • Content cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about JuntoVenture, other people, products or companies;
  • Content cannot contain trademarks, logos or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by others, or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, without permission, or contain any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;
  • Content cannot contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media) without permission;
  • Content cannot contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other indicia identifying any person, living or dead, without permission;
  • Content cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which JuntoVenture wishes to associate; and
  • Content cannot depict and cannot itself be in violation of any law or otherwise.


JuntoVenture reserves the right to disqualify any Entry for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion.


WINNER NOTIFICATION:Potential Winner will be determined on or about April 22, 2008. Potential Winner will be notified by mail, telephone and/or email on or about April 22, 2008 and will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and, unless prohibited by law, Publicity Release (“Affidavit/Release”) as well as any other documents which may be required by JuntoVenture(s) and JuntoVenture, all of which must be received fully-executed within seven (7) days of the date printed on the notification or the Winner may be disqualified. A background check may be conducted on potential Winner. At the discretion of the JuntoVenture(s) and JuntoVenture, Winner may be disqualified for any of the following: if charged with or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, is not eligible based on the eligibility requirements set forth above, or if delinquent on a government ordered payment (such as but not limited to: child support, spousal support, alimony, tax payments, etc.). In the event it is determined that Winner has not complied with these Official Rules, or has failed to execute and return any required documents within the specified time period, has made false statements or a prize notification is returned as undeliverable, then Winner will be disqualified. Should Winner make any false statement(s) in any document required by JuntoVenture(s) and JuntoVenture, Winner will be disqualified and required to promptly return to JuntoVenture(s) his/her prize. If Winner is disqualified for any reason, at JuntoVenture’s discretion, the Entry with the next highest score may be declared the alternate Winner.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: Winning constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use challenger’s name, video, hometown, likeness, prize won, and photograph (all at JuntoVenture’s discretion) for future advertising, publicity in any and all media now or hereafter devised throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification or permission. Challenge Parties and their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees (collectively, ””Released Parties”) are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, stolen, altered, garbled, incorrect, incomplete or delayed Entries; all of which will be void. Released Parties are also not responsible for problems uploading or downloading any Challenge-related information or materials from the web site or for any other technical malfunctions of electronic equipment, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer hardware or software failures, phone lines, failure of any Entry to be received by JuntoVenture on account of technical problems, traffic, congestion on the internet or the Website, or for any other technical problems including telecommunication, miscommunication or failure, and failed, lost, delayed, incomplete, garbled or misdirected communications which may limit a challenger’s ability to participate in the Challenge.

Released Parties are not responsible for any other errors or malfunctions of any kind, whether network, printing, typographical, human or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Challenge, including, without limitation, errors or malfunctions which may occur in connection with the administration of the Challenge, the processing or judging of Entries, the tabulating of ratings, the announcement of prize or in any Challenge-related materials.

Mass Entries or Entries generated by a script, macro or use of automated devices will be disqualified. JuntoVenture reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the Challenge in the event it becomes infected by a computer virus or is otherwise technically impaired, and to cancel or suspend the Challenge in its entirety should tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or other causes corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper play of the Challenge and, if terminated, at JuntoVenture’s discretion, determine the top-rated Entries and/or winner (as applicable) using all non-suspect, eligible Entries received up to time of cancellation using the judging procedure outlined above.

In the event of a dispute regarding Entries received from multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account at the time of Entry will be deemed to be the challenger and must comply with these Official Rules. Authorized subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses.

JuntoVenture reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the Entry process or the operation of the Challenge or Website, intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other challenger JuntoVenture or any of its representatives or to otherwise be acting in violation of these Official Rules and void all associated Entries. CAUTION: Any attempt by a challenger to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operations of the Challenge is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the JuntoVenture reserves the right to seek damages from any such challenger to the fullest extent permitted by law and to disqualify such challenger from the Challenge.

ASSIGNMENT OF RIGHTS: As further provided in Youtubes.com’s Terms of Use, challenger hereby acknowledges that he/she shall retain ownership of the Entry (including video) and irrevocably grants to JuntoVenture and its designees a non-exclusive, world-wide, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, and display and perform publicly any Entry (or any portion thereof) in any media now known or later developed. Please go to Youtubes.com Terms of Use (at www.youtube.com) for additional details.

By submitting an Entry, challenger acknowledges and agrees that JuntoVenture may obtain many submissions under this Challenge and that such Entries may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format or other respects to others submitted under this Challenge and/or other challenges staged and/or JuntoVentureed by the JuntoVenture, and waive any and all claims challenger may have had, may have, and/or may have in the future, that any composition, video and/or other works accepted, reviewed and/or used by the JuntoVenture (or its respective designees) may be similar to his/her Entry. Challenger acknowledges and agrees that JuntoVenture does not have now, nor shall any of them have in the future, any duty or liability, direct or indirect, vicarious, contributory, or otherwise, with respect to the infringement or protection of any copyright in and to challenger’s Entry.

MISCELLANEOUS CONDITIONS: By participating in the Challenge, challengers (i) agree to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and (ii) agree to be bound by the decisions of JuntoVenture and its judges, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Challenge. Failure to comply with these Official Rules may result in disqualification from the Challenge. JuntoVenture reserves the right to permanently disqualify any person it believes has intentionally violated these Official Rules. Challenge subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. 


RELEASES: By entering the Challenge, challengers agree to release and hold harmless the Challenge Parties from all claims, liability or damage caused or claimed to be caused, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, in connection with participation in this Challenge, or acceptance or use of prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), the substitution of prize (or any portion thereof) in accordance with these Official Rules, the administration of the Challenge, the operation of the Website or Challenge Parties’ use of any of the rights granted herein. Challenge Parties assume no responsibility for the conduct of any challenger or the responses of anyone appearing in any Entry.

ARBITRATION AND CHOICE OF LAW: Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Challenge, challenger agrees that (1) any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Challenge, or the prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at the AAA regional office nearest the challengeant; (2) the Federal Arbitration Act shall govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. Under no circumstances will challenger be permitted to obtain awards for, and challenger hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees, other than challenger’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., costs associated with entering this Challenge), and challenger further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of challengers and JuntoVenture in connection with this Challenge, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of Pennsylvania, USA without regard to Pennsylvania choice of law rules.

WINNER’S NAME: We will announce the winners on the WEBSITE on March 25, 2008.
